Are You From The 60s and 70s?

If you grew up in the 60s and 70s, then you will remember that for most teens, sunburn and tanning were the norm.

We used to rush home from school in June, and lather baby oil over us in our bathing suits and soak of the rest of the afternoon sun. We might as well have been frying ourselves. We would always burn, but that was suppose to be the beginning of a good tan.

Everyone would walk around with a burn, only to peel and then tan. I shudder when I think of it now. My brother was a red head, and I was blonde. We both had sensitive skin, but more so him.

Years later, we know this was not good. But did you also know that moles are not the only symptom of melanoma skin cancer? He had a cut that did not heal. He didn't even remember getting the cut, but it was on his inner thigh. He left it for months, and by the time he got it checked it was too late.

He was only 48 years old.

To this day, I check myself every month. I have had some suspicious moles removed, but so far so good. If you stay on top of your skin health, and wear sunscreen, not only will you skin not age you, you will notice any changes that can be taken care of now.
